This course will introduce you to the pivotal works of art created between approximately 500 and 1500. We will consider painting, sculpture, architecture and graphic arts. These works of art will be considered within the framework of rapid urban development, the flowering of both monastic and secular cultures, the rise of universities and changes in lay and religious authorities.
