How the Course Works: The course is comprised of a series of lectures and laboratories, shown on the Course Schendule. I will lecture on the topics shown in the Coure Schedule and help you with the laboratory exercises. I am available for help outside of the class times by appointment.

Classroom Schedule: The class will meet in Lawson 121 for lectures and demonstrations. Discussion groups will meet in Faner 2533. Attendance will be taken at lectures.

Laboratory and Field Exercises: There will be thirteen exercises throughout the semester during your discussion session. You will find these in this Course Study Guide. You will work as teams on the lab exercises to gather the data needed in answering questions, but finish the lab exercises independently. Lab exercises are due one week after the lab session. Lab exercises turned in late will be penalized 2 points for each day they are late. You must attend the laboratory to hand in the exercise. You may drop three exercises, but only one from any Theme of the course.

Quizzes: There will be twelve quizzes with two types of questions. Quizzes will include questions that deal with terms and interpretation of graphs and figures. You may drop two quizzes.

Examinations: There will be two hour exams and a final exam. The hour exams cover text and lecture materials prior to the exam. The final exam will be comprehensive. The questions on the examinations will be multiple choice. Half of the questions will be from a file of questions in the Practice Quizzes found in the GEOG 3031 Home Page, described below. The other half will be based on figures and graphs in the textbook.

Midterm Grade: You will receive a midterm grade after Exam 1. Your nidterm grade will include Quizzes 1-6, the First Hour Exam, and Exercises 1-6. Remember that the deadline for dropping a course is Monday of the 9th week of classes.
