a program of determining the technologically important properties of these materials using state-of the-art techniques of separation, microscopy, and chemical analysis.
Chemistry of Sulfur and Nitrogen in Coal
long range program detailing the chemical nature of organic sulfur and nitrogen in coal and coal macerals.
Characterization of Coal for Blast Furnace Injection
a program of evaluating the potential of Illinois coal as a feedstock for use in blast furnace injection.
Reactivity of Coal, Coal Macerals, and Combustion Byproducts
unique program studying the combustion properties and char reactivity of single coal macerals, coal particles and fly ash carbon.
Petrographic Characterization of Coal and Coal Macerals
an ongoing program of separation and advanced petrographic characterization of whole coals, coal lithotypes, and single coal macerals using white light and fluorescent light petrography and reflectance analysis.
