If you are accessing these pages from a Netscape-equipped public terminal in Morris Library, you can skip the viewer installation and configuration steps completely, and proceed with viewing the Powerpoint slides. All Netscape-equipped public terminals in Morris Library are now configured to work automatically with Powerpoint slides--just point and click.
If you are accessing these pages from a CLC lab, check with CLC staff about whether you need to install the Powerpoint viewer on your machine or not. We hope that the CLC machines will eventually also be configured to work automatically with the Powerpoint slides. Ask CLC staff for more information or assistance.
Microsoft provides the Powerpoint Viewer free of charge so that people can view Powerpoint presentations without having to purchase the full Powerpoint software package. The version of the viewer you download depends on what operating system your computer has installed.
For Macintosh users, you may need to un-BinHex the Macintosh file below as part of the installation process. Some Macintosh applications, such as Fetch and Netscape, automatically un-BinHex files once downloaded.
For Windows users, the Windows file below is self-extracting. Copy it to a temporary directory, and run it. From there, run the VSETUP.EXE program. It will automatically create the necessary directory, files, and program manager icons.
