Much of the bright printed cloth so popular in Africa is manufactured in Nigeria. But a significant portion is imported from Holland, England, India and Japan. This exhibit includes Nigerian cloth as well as cloth manufactured abroad specifically for the export to the African market. The next few pages display various types of cloth purchased in Nigeria. Some designs mimic traditional African weaving, such as the imitation "kente" cloth from London used in one of the kaftans.
