MISSION STATEMENT
Southern Illinois University Carbondale is pleased to participate in the Illinois Virtual Campus. Distance Learning at Southern Illinois University Carbondale extends the intellectual and service mission beyond the physical boundaries of the campus to the regional, state, national and global community by offering departmental courses for academic credit through distance education. It is the intention of SIUC to provide a culturally diverse offering of credit courses through distance learning systems that include synchronous and asynchronous delivery methods. These distance learning courses for college academic credit extend departmental course offerings to off-campus and non-traditional as well as traditional student populations that may require alternative learning methods.
At Southern Illinois University Carbondale, distance learning courses are offered in interactive and web-based formats. Interactive Distance Learning courses are administered by Library Affairs and Web-based courses offered by the Individualized Learning Program are administered by the Division of Continuing Education.
Admission, registration, advisement and ordering course materials may differ by the format. On the following pages, specific requirements for Interactive Distance Learning and the Individualized Learning Program are listed separately.
